AMB Studio LLC, the company that owns and operates Theory Golf ("we", "our", "us"), provides a golf analytics and practice platform delivered through our iOS app and website (theorygolf.app). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

• Name, email address, and password (or Apple/Google Sign-In identifier)
• Optional profile photo and display name
• Golf preferences: handicap, distance unit, club bag, practice equipment

Round and performance data

• Courses played, tees used, hole-by-hole scores, putts, and shot details
• GPS coordinates of shots and pin locations while a round is in progress
• Practice sessions, drills attempted, and self-reported results
• Weather and course conditions captured for each round

Social data

• Friends, friend requests, round invitations, and notifications
• Activity feed entries you choose to share

Technical data

• Device type, OS version, app version, and crash diagnostics
• IP address and basic request logs used for security and abuse prevention

We do not collect precise location data when you are not actively playing or recording a practice session.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide core gameplay features: shot tracking, strategy advice, and analytics
• Generate AI caddy suggestions, round insights, and personalized practice plans
• Compute strokes-gained, handicap, and personal/cohort baselines
• Enable multiplayer rounds, friend connections, and round invitations
• Operate, secure, and improve the service
• Communicate service updates and respond to support requests

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on a small set of vendors to operate the service. Data shared with each is limited to what is necessary:

• Anthropic (Claude API) — round context and player stats are sent to generate AI caddy advice, insights, and practice plans. Anthropic does not train on our API data.
• Golfbert — course, hole, and teebox reference data.
• Google Maps Platform — elevation data and satellite tiles for course maps.
• OpenWeather — weather conditions for rounds.
• Apple and Google — optional Sign-In with Apple or Google identity verification.
• Supabase, Fly.io, Modal, and Redis providers — hosting, database, and compute infrastructure.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your data with advertisers.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account and round data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account at any time (see Section 7), after which we delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or to resolve disputes.

5. Security

We use TLS for data in transit, encrypted storage at our hosting providers, and JWT-based authentication. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard practices.

6. Children

Theory Golf is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Your Rights and Choices

• Access & export: Request a copy of your data by contacting us.
• Correction: Edit profile, bag, round, and shot data directly in the app.
• Deletion: Delete your account from the app, or email us to request deletion.
• Notifications: Manage push and email notification preferences in settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as GDPR or CCPA, including the right to object to or restrict certain processing. We honor these requests where applicable.

8. International Users

Theory Golf is operated by AMB Studio LLC from the United States. By using the service, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or via email where appropriate. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version.
